Textile Interfaces for Smart Environments
Ph.D. candidate - RWTH Aachen University
For the past two years Nur has been exploring the design space of e-textiles together will textile engineers and designers.
Today she will describe some of the prototypes and studies she has made, and how she believes that textile interfaces will not only complement existing technology, but also open up a new class of user interfaces in the physical and virtual worlds.
Nur Hamdan is a Ph.D. candidate in Jan Borchers’ Media Computing and HCI group at RWTH Aachen University, Germany. She is currently a visiting researcher at Stanford in James Landay's HCI group. Nur was recently awarded a grant of 500,000 Euros form the Federal Ministry of Research and Education in Germany to complete her work on haptic textiles.
