Generative Design for Space
Karl Willis (@KarlDD)
Senior Research Manager - Autodesk
Abstract
Space remains one of the most challenging destinations for design; requiring extensive design refinement coupled with rigorous analysis and physical testing. In this talk I will give a brief overview of generative design and share details of a space exploration project in collaboration with NASA’s Jet Propulsion Lab. Generative design was used to design and manufacture a concept lander with the goal of significantly reducing mass and enabling more scientific instrumentation to be deployed in the search for life beyond earth.
